Today I want to talk about a product I've tried a couple of times now called
Aussie Sprunch Non-Aerosol Hairspray. I thought I'd talk about it because spring/summer is right around the corner and that is when most of us attempt to achieve the "beach wave" look. This product is designed to help you achieve a care-free beachy hairstyle. I have naturally wavy hair, but only if I let it air dry, which unless you sit still for 5 hours while it dries turns into a hot frizzy mess. Everyone has their own methods of achieving their own wave, so I won't go into much detail there. Once you've got the wave going on, or somewhat of a wave going on, that is when you wanna grab a hairspray. Now be careful on which one you select. In my experiences, you want to pick one with a flexible hold. You'll notice that Aussie rates their holds on the bottle from 1-4. The Sprunch product line is a 2. You'll want movement for sure! You want your hair to hold the wave but not look like it has hairspray...this is a hard thing to achieve! Don't worry if your hair is a tiny bit frizzy, the great thing about putting a spray in it, is that it tames the frizz.
I usually start spraying on the top layer of my hair with just a few spritz on each side then the back. Don't move any hair just put a light dusting on what is usually exposed. Then I tilt my head on both sides so that my bottom hair is exposed and give that a few spritz on each side too so that you're hitting the bottom layer of your hair. That is usually enough to hold it, but if you want a little more volume, this is the time where you can fluff it up and spray a bit more. Be careful, you don't want too much hairspray in your hair.
Now as far as the actual product goes, I like it, but I don't love it. I use to use it all the time in the summer, but I noticed when I purchased my second bottle, the pump didn't work after a few times I used it. I thought maybe it was just a defective pump, so I bought another one when

I saw it on sale. It pretty cheap where I buy it ($2-$4 a 251ml bottle). To my disappointment the same thing happened with the second one too. Now I have two bottles of the product that don't pump. I took apart the pump and washed it out and it seemed to work for a bit but then it happened again. I'm assuming the hairspray solution gums up the pump. Maybe it works better with the aerosol can? I have other hairsprays by Aussie and this is the only problem I've ever had with the pump. Never the less,
I won't be purchasing a new bottle. With that being said, I've used my roommate's
Pantene Curl Enhancing Spray Gel a few times in a pinch and it works well. It's stickier then the Aussie Sprunch so it makes your hair a bit more crunchy. I still prefer the sprays over mousse though because the mousse makes your hair really wet and if you don't have a really prominent wave, it kind of kills the wave.
