Ipsy June Glam Bag

Hey guys,

I received my bag in a timely fashion again this month! I've been testing out some of the products to see if I like them or not and here is my review!

So this months theme was 'On the Wild Side'...which if you know me...isn't me isn't me at all so I was extremely nervous.

In my Glam Bag I received:

Full sized lip pencil from Starlooks in Bare ($12)
Full sized cream blush from NYX in orange ($6)
Full sized sparkling cream palette from J.Cat Beauty in ($4.49)
Full sized gel eyeliner with brush built in from Cailyn in Iron ($21)
Full sized highlighter pencil from Chella in Ivory Lace ($18)

After opening my bag I knew right off the bat I would NEVER use the lip pencil or the sparkling cream palette. I mean...common I'm pretty much a swipe of lip balm and we're ready to go kind of person. If I'm doing lip colours its usually a gloss, or if I want to get fancy then a lipstick. To be completely honest with you, lip pencils remind me of old frumpy people (I don't want to offend anyone here), but getting the colour 'bare' really didn't help its case. I didn't even take it out of the packaging because I know I'll never use it. Perhaps it'll go to a person who like defining their lips a little more then me. As for the sparkling scream palette...oh my god. I knew before it even arrived here I'd hate it. It's not even for your eyes! It's a body glitter...I mean, who actually wears body glitter? Definitely a novelty item I will probably never use. Anyone like glitter? It's yours!

When I first looked at the cream blush, I was trying to keep an open mind. I'd had a blush stick once before and I find that anything that isn't a powder, usually doesn't look like a powder once its on your face either. It usually just looks like you tried to use a lip stick/gloss to highlight your cheek bones. Oh dear. Instead of looking like a beautiful Victoria's Secret Angel model, I'm sorry to say, you look like a clown at a 6 year old's birthday party. None the less, I signed up for this stuff so I might as well try it! After staring at it for a few moments I decided I'd try it out on the eyes first as an eye shadow. It seemed more like an eye colour then a blush...or maybe a bronzer even...its kinda orange?  So I tried it on on my eyes and it looked pretty, but then after about half an hour it starts to feel heavy on your eyes...like it might be melting off or something. Yikes! I also rubbed my eyes a few times and got it all over my hands. It turned into a disaster. Since it seemed so sticky I probably won't be using it. I'll most likely sit at the bottom of my make-up bag.

Alright, now for the light at the end of the tunnel! There were two products I did enjoy this time around however! The gel liner as well as the highlighter. These products I've used variations of before. I use a stick of gel liner for going out at night and I love how easy it glides on. I liked this one because it was easy to put on as well. I'm not a fan of liquid liner, just because I feel I never have the right precision with it, then I always blink and get it on my face and well its just not worth the hassle. Then when I use pencils I gotta press so damn hard I might as well just poke my self in the eye. They do say beauty is pain...In my eye apparently. Anyways, the colour was lighter then black so it wasn't very prominent so I'll use it for a day thing when I feel like getting gussied up to do...whatever it is that I do with my life. You know, study, wash dishes, watch tv...pinterest. I'm sure the plates will be happy to see I've done something with myself. I'm a huge fan of highlighters because we used them to contour our eyes in my dancer years and I consider my eyes to be one of my greater features. I use a "make shift" eye highlighter now which is really just a really really light shimmery eye shadow...which actually works wonders! I've gotten a lot of complements, so it actually might beat Chella, but we shall test it out.
